RCA Studio B in Nashville, Tenn. is hallowed ground in the world of country music and recording history.

Dubbed the “Home of 1000 Hits” and birthplace of the “Nashville Sound,” the studio was ground zero for the resurgence of country music in the 1960s, hosting sessions by a long list of legendary performers including Elvis Presley, Willie Nelson, Chet Atkins, Dolly Parton, The Everly Brothers, Waylon Jennings, and Jim Reeves.

And Serapis.

A good friend, Nick Spezia, was working on a project at Studio B, and invited the band to record. Naturally, we jumped at the chance, and laid down rhythm tracks during some late-night sessions.

The project was completed at the home studio of Gene Carroll, who had just finished producing the lastest full-length cd for The Colin Sphinctor Band.

The image on the left was taken at the beautiful and legendary Sheldon Concert Hall in St. Louis.

No One To Blame
Tony Chambers
Listen: No One To Blame

There’s a time when you know the weight falls on you
You can’t look behind to find a reason why
Can’t point you finger at who or why – just because
When the light can shine and you can see what’s true

You’ve got no one to blame but yourself
There’s no time to explain away what you know
Standing all alone and you’ve got no help
You’ve got no one to blame but yourself

Some can never seem to take a look around
We all need or friends sometime to help us through another day
But the fire inside can come from you alone

You’ve got no one to blame but yourself
There’s no time to explain away what you know
Standing all alone and you’ve got no help
You’ve got no one to blame but yourself

No one’s perfect – it’s alright
Gonna take time – to get it right

Can’t point your finger, can’t look away
Take a look in the mirror tell me what you see.
Open up your eyes so you can find what’s deep inside
Then it leaves you with nothing else to say

You’ve got no one to blame but yourself
There’s no time to explain away what you know
Standing all alone and you’ve got no help
You’ve got no one to blame but yourself

Brink of Disaster
Jim Findlay
Listen: (Livin' on the) Brink of Disaster

It was only the same old story - a man in and out of debt
His best friend and his family had turned away
They said he should use more caution - they said he should be content
To live out the same old life from day to day

But two years in the army - and another in the FBI
And six months running dope from mexico
Well he lost all of his money and most of his sanity
He says to himself "well, that's just the way it goes"

Livin' on the brink of disaster does me good
Keeps my mind a-tickin' and life goes the way it should
So if you're looking out your picture window don't get too comfortable
Coz before you can blink you eye there'll be a flash up in the sky
And I'll be livin' on the brink of disaster once again

He was always the boy in trouble - the black sheep of the family
His teacher said "you'll never pass this grade again"
His sargeant said he was a failure, "you've got a bad attitude.
You'll never make it in this man's army like that, my friend"

He saw people going nowhere he saw all of the insanity
Then he says to himself "why should I be a part of that"
So he burned up all his pencils and his bachelor of arts degree
Says goodbye, and leaves without his hat

Livin' on the brink of disaster does me good
Keeps my mind a-tickin' and life goes the way it should
So if you're looking out your picture window don't get too comfortable
Coz before you can blink you eye there'll be a flash up in the sky
And I'll be livin' on the brink of disaster once again

Too much time, and I've so much to do
I get so tired - sometimes i feel like you
So say goodbye and tell them that i've just got to go
I hate to leave, but you gotta believe that goodbye is just another hello

Livin' on the brink of disaster does me good
Keeps my mind a-tickin' and life goes the way it should
So if you're looking out your picture window don't get too comfortable
Coz before you can blink you eye there'll be a flash up in the sky
And I'll be livin' on the brink of disaster once again

Door Wide Open
Todd Luerding
Listen: Door Wide Open

You can say I'm not the boy for you
I can see you're not the one
Long as we both can say it wouldn't have worked out anyway
Long as we can say we both had fun

Like the weekend that we drove up to the park
We laughed and loved until the dawn
The moon and the stars that night - bathed us in their heav'nly light
And we made love until - all our strength was gone
And we left the...

Door wide open – back to the other side
Looking back on where we both had been
And if we find the greener sides on our side of the fence
We can close the door and go back home again

Seems like the last time that we both agreed
That we wouldn’t let it go too far
And though we knew we might  stay too late some night
We never did lose sight of knowing right where we are
But we left the…

Door wide open – we could see the other side
With one eye back on where we both had been
And if we find the greener sides on our side of the fence
We can close the door and go back home again

If ever there was a need for resolution
If ever there was a time for some restraint
If either one of us could ever muster up the strength
And face up to the facts we knew
And go our separate ways

So let them say you’re not the girl for me
Let them talk of things they do not know
They’ll never understand – it’s just the touch our your hand
Never did work out the way that we had planned
So we left the…

Door wide open – we could see the other side
With one eye back on where we both had been
And if we find the greener sides on our side of the fence
We can close the door and go back home again

Renaldo's Condo
Tony Chambers
Listen: Renaldo's Condo

He’s just a little boy, get drunk and make some noise
He’s got a place to stay, he’s gonna be OK.
Not much to call a home, three wheels and bed of foam.
Hot all day and cold at night, He’s got a pint he’ll be alright.

Step inside his condo, his van, into tomorrow.
It’s all Renaldo…Renaldo’s condo

Got no locks and got no doors, no phone bills and no house chores
Don’t have to work, don’t have to try, just drags himself down to the Y.

Step inside his condo, his van, into tomorrow.
It’s all Renaldo…Renaldo’s condo

They came and took his home away, the only place he had to stay.
Now he’s got no place to go, Life get’s tough, that’s how it goes

Step inside his condo, his van, into tomorrow.
It’s all Renaldo…Renaldo’s condo

Three Jimmys
Todd Luerding
Listen: Three Jimmys

One
Jimmy’s daddy was a good, good man in a good, good many ways
Lived his life in a factory – 40 years, 10-hour days
Always working for quittin’ time – then he’d drag his body home
Fast asleep by nine o’clock with dreams of days to come
He always said

“If you work hard all your life, you’ll be a wealthy man one day”
But he died a poor, exhausted man
A pauper’s stone to whisper where he lays

Two
Young James always knew his father was a wealthy, wealthy man
Using people as he needed – then crushing them with his hand
Never had much use for friendships that didn’t make him a dime
And there’s no profit in families, so he just didn’t take the time
And he always said

‘If you work smart all your life, you’ll be a powerful man someday”
But he died a rich and lonely man
No mourners see his grave

guitar

Three
Big Jim never really knew his old man – he died when he was four
He clutched his Bible and he clutched his heart and then he slowly sank to the floor
Mama always said he was a God-fearing man, and the time would come one day
When he would pull the young boy close to him and with his dying breath he’d say

“Son, if you pray to God every morning, you’ll be a better man today”
Then he stepped into the arms of Jesus, who carried him away
Then he stepped into the arms of Jesus, who carried him away
Carried him away

Oh, but come lately, it just keeps getting harder to survive
Oh, but come lately, it takes all that I have just to stay alive

How Much Is Enough
Tony Chambers
Listen: How Much Is Enough?

Every day we need to buy enough to stay satisfied
Got to keep the money rollin in
Never seem to find the time Waiting in another line
Trying to find the right way to begin

How much is enough?  How much farther can we go?
How can I use all this stuff?   How much is enough?

Got the coolest ride in town, biggest baddest house around
A mountain of debt and bills to pay
Never seem to be an end to the cash I need to spend
Pockets getting deeper everyday

How much is enough?  How much farther can we go?
How can I use all this stuff?   How much is enough?

You can’t buy your way to the place you need to find
There’s no way out of the line
There’s no time to wait when you see what’s lost is found
Open up your eyes and see the signs

Funny how the time can fly. See it start to pass you by
Wonder what your mark is going to be
Everyday’s another chance,You can always take a stance
Not the things you want but what you need

How much is enough?  How much farther can we go?
How can I use all this stuff?   How much is enough

Allergic To Fun
Tony Chambers
Listen: Allergic To Fun

There’s a girl – and she wants to have a good time
She’s hanging out – checking out the scene
She’s feeling strange, feeling like it’s time to go
Her friends just got there – but everybody knows that

She’s allergic to having a good time
She’s allergic to having any fun
She’s afraid of walking in the sunshine
She’s allergic – so she can’t find anyone

Back at home sitting with the TV on
Breaking out from almost having fun
The phone rings, what’s she gonna tell her friends
Her allergies are kicking in – she feels them coming on

She’s allergic to having a good time
She’s allergic to having any fun
She’s afraid of walking in the sunshine
She’s allergic – so she can’t find anyone

There were times before she walked straight and tall
Until a man shot her down - and she lost it all

There’s a girl – she’s gonna have a good time
She’s hanging out – checking out the scene
Her friends got there she thinks she’s gonna stay a while
But she can still remember when everybody said

Then there came a man who tried to be her friend
When he saw the girl walking all alone yeah
Said “I know the you’ve been hurt bad
I know what it’s like – coz I’ve been there before.”

She’s allergic to having a good time
She’s allergic to having any fun
She’s afraid of walking in the sunshine
She’s allergic – so she can’t find anyone

There were times before she walked straight and tall
Until a man shot her down - and she lost it all

Don't Let Me Stand In Your Way
Recorded Live at Tuner's in Saint Charles, MO
Todd Luerding
Listen: Don't Let Me Stand In Your Way

Some people are here to take the world for a ride
No time to find what they need down inside
So used to taking from people who hide

So if it seems I move too slow
On a path you want to go
If it seems I take my time it just
Because I have so many things to mind

So Don't Let Me Stand In Your Way
Don't Let Me Stand In Your Way
If you feel that you have something to say
Don't Let Me Stand In Your Way

Suspicions - know who you trus who you know
Conditions - everything set for the show
Edictions - pick up the pace don't move so slow

And if it seems I just step aside
And let the rat race pass me by
If it seems I take my time - it's just
Because I have so many things to mind

So Don't Let Me Stand In Your Way
Don't Let Me Stand In Your Way
If you feel that you have something to say
Don't Let Me Stand In Your Way

The Request
Gene Carroll
Listen: The Request

Hey everybody listen up
We’re gonna take care of business
Fill up your margarita cup
Then, get out and dance …you don’t want to miss this

We’ve got about a dozen requests
Some of them I don’t even know
We’re gonna put ‘em all together
Are you ready? …  Here we go…

Remember the grass behind the stadium?
The coach came out and we were born to run
American Brown-eyed Sally
Mustang Freebird Pie

It used to be Stones and the Beatles
And then it was Skynyrd and Bruce
Now its all Simon and Idol
Hey Ashley, there’s no excuse

So why at the Lake of the Ozarks
Where the Chicken train’s running all day
Do you gotta hear rollin’ on the river
And sittin’ on the dock of the bay?

If I had a million dollars
I’d play that funky music right……
American Brown-eyed Sally
Mustang Freebird Pie

I love this bar….
In Sweet home Alabama
Where we sing the perfect country and western song

Its not too far…….
From the Gulf to Carolina
It’s just an old tradition that we’re carryin’ on

We all started out in garages
Everybody wanted to rock
All the good stuff was on the radio
Now all I get is talk

Van, Jimmy Buffet and Elvis
I’ve got ‘em all on my iPod
"Can I sing this one with you please"
It’s  Karaoke Idol? “Oh my Gawd!!”

So now that you’ve heard all the songs that you came for
Get your butt out there get on the dance floor
American Brown-eyed Sally
Mustang Freebird Pie
